Free website audit

See what's helping your website, and what's getting in the way.

Send us your website address. A person reviews what any visitor to your site can see, and emails you what we found. It's free, and there's nothing to buy.

  1. Confirm your emailWe email you a link. Nothing is reviewed until you open it and confirm, so nobody can ask for an audit in your name.
  2. A person reviews your siteOn a phone and a desktop: how easy it is to contact you, how clearly it says what you do, how it loads, and the basics search engines look for.
  3. We email what we foundSpecific observations and what we'd change about each. We'll tell you when to expect it once we've looked at your request; it isn't instant.
Where we send your audit and follow up about it.

What we check

Your home page and up to four other pages linked from it, the way a visitor would see them.

  • Whether a visitor can see how to contact you, and reach you in one step
  • Whether your home page says what you do, clearly enough to act on
  • How the site lays out on a phone, and whether forms and buttons work from a keyboard
  • How quickly the main content appears, measured in a test browser
  • Page titles, headings, and the signals that tell search engines what to show
  • HTTPS, broken navigation, and whether your contact details are consistent

We don't log in, fill in your forms, buy anything, or probe for security weaknesses. If your site asks not to be crawled, we stop and a person decides what to do.

What an audit can't tell you

  • Your sales, your phone calls, or how many visitors become customers
  • Where you rank for a search, or how that will change
  • Anything behind a login, a form or a checkout
  • A revenue forecast: an audit is observations, not a prediction

Anything we couldn't measure is reported as unknown. It never counts against you.

Example website

An example report

This is what a finished audit looks like. The business is fictional and so are the numbers. Hartwell Heating & Plumbing is a fictional business used to show how findings read. It is not a client.

The phone number is hard to find on a phone

What we observed
The phone number only appears in small text at the very top of the page.
Evidence
Seen on the home page at phone width; the number is in 12px text in the top bar. Confidence: high.
Why it matters
Someone with a broken furnace can't call you without hunting for the number.
What we would do
A tap-to-call button in the header and beside the main heading on phones.

Services are listed without any detail

What we observed
Services are listed as Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Other, with no detail.
Evidence
The services menu has four entries and no service pages. Confidence: medium.
Why it matters
Visitors can't tell whether you do the job they need before they call.
What we would do
One short page per service that says what is included and how to book it.

A large photo loads before any text

What we observed
The home page photo is a 3.1 MB file that loads before any text appears.
Evidence
The home page image is 3.1 MB, measured in one test run. Confidence: low.
Why it matters
On a phone connection the page is blank for longer than it needs to be.
What we would do
A correctly sized image, loaded after the heading and the contact button.

What happens to your details

  • We use your email to send the confirmation link and your audit, and to follow up about it.
  • Website tips only if you tick the box. Leaving it unticked changes nothing about your audit.
  • An unconfirmed request is never reviewed.
  • We don't sell your details.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. There's no charge, no card, and no obligation. If you want help with what we find, we'll talk about scope and price separately.

How long does it take?

A person does the review, so it isn't instant. Once we've looked at your request we'll tell you when to expect it.

Why do I have to confirm my email?

So the audit only goes to someone who asked for it, and nobody can request one in your name.

The link in the email expired. What now?

Open it anyway and ask for a fresh link, or send the form again. Links work for 24 hours.

What if my site is down or blocks our check?

We report what we couldn't see as unknown rather than as a problem with your site, and a person decides what to do next.

Rather talk to someone?

Email us, or tell us what you need on the contact page.
